Jersey 2018 –  Summer Camp 2018 is now officially booked.

We’ll be travelling to Jersey between Monday 20th and Monday 27th August 2018……. We’ve got a great camp planned and packed full of fun activities and new adventures for our Cubs and Scouts!

As we depart from our local airport we’ll give some of our participants their first experience on an aircraft and first time abroad, which is great and a huge achievement for both them and us.

So what will we get up to?

Over the course of 7 days we’ll take part in both land and sea activities, visiting parts of Jersey and completing activities with local suppliers. Our Cubs and Scouts will try new adventurous activities and further their knowledge in key areas of Scouting.

We’ll test the abilities of our Sixers, Seconders, Assistant Patrol Leaders and Patrol Leaders throughout the camp ensuring that are meeting the requirements of these roles!

Wednesday 26th March 2014 – Annual District  Chess Competition

This year Ben Chater represented the Scout Section, he won 1st place and did us proud!

Joe Chater represented the Cub Section and after a fierce few games he made it to the final and won 2nd place.

We would like to thank both of them for representing us and hope they enjoyed the experience!

Saturday 8th March 2014

This year both the Cub and Scout Sections entered two team each into the District 5 A Side football competition which were

held at the Powerleague Soccer Dome in North Shields. Both the Cub and Scout competitions were challenging and energetic throughout the afternoon. All of our young people were exhausted by the end of the day.

Cubs were 4th and 6th Place and our Scout Teams were 3rd and 5th Place this year.

The Scout section have launched a joint trip to London with the Cub Pack, but what does this mean?

Basically, the Scouts will be attending the same campsite at the same time as the Cub Pack but they will run and hold their own independent Scout Camp to allow the young people to gain new skills and different experiences!

Interest letters have been given to every young person and they have 14 Days to express an interest in this event!

Once the interest has been gathered further information will be provided to you all.

AGM 2013
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our group at this years AGM evening.
The turnout was great and it was so pleasing to see so many of the young people taking part in a well balanced
variety performance.
Some of our Scouts who would not normally have taken to the stage, did!
Well done to everyone for such a great night, we are already looking forward to next year.
District Cub Camp was held at Ratlingate Scout Campsite in Carlisle between Friday 10th and Sunday 12th May 2013, the event saw 196 Cubs, Leaders, Young Leaders and helpers camp under canvas in the wet and wintery conditions.
The Scottish themed activity camp was supported by almost all groups across the district, whilst at camp the Cubs took part in a number of challenging activities such as, Haggis making, backwoods cooking, sword and shield making, archery and much more!
On Sunday they all took part in the highland games (some in fancy dress), the games included tug of war, caber tossing, caileach, tin can alley, charriot’s and much more!
It was great to see so many of our young people working and interacting with cubs from other packs, although they stayed up until the early hours on Saturday morning they worked hard and were fast asleep early on Saturday night.
Well done to all that attended and those that helped make the camp a great success.
Hopefully next time we will have some sun and dry weather!

On Wednesday 20th March 2013 we entered two players (Joe and Spencer) into the Cub Scout Chess competition which was held at the District Headquarters, there were a total of 16 players entered from groups across the district and the competition was fierce!

After some hard and challenging games the semi finals were decided and both of our entries from the 6th were in it!, they knew at this point they had secured at-least two places but which were they to be! Our players continued in their battle, the final was played and the results were in. Both of our Cubs did brilliantly well, Joe took 3rd place and 4th place was won by Spencer.

Well done to you both for doing so well, again we continue to put up a good challenge against many other groups in the district!

On Saturday 16th March 2013 we entered 3 teams of 6 players into the district 5-a-side football competition which was held at Power-league Soccer Dome in North Shields. Our teams were just 3 of the 20 entered from across the district.

The competition started at 2pm and our 1st team’s first game was a great kick off for us, we drew 0 -0 which gave us our 1st point…….

We played game after game scoring goals and making more points than we ever had before!

Our teams did very well and after a fierce competition one of our teams made it through to the knock out rounds playing against some very experienced and tough teams who have all won the competition before, so we already knew it was going to be a tough challenge.

After a long hard game we lost and found ourselves playing for 3rd/4th place against the 5th Whitley Bay. Our players started the game well, scoring the first goal which built them up to win, they were knocked down when the other team scored but this didn’t stop them! They went on to win the game 4-2 and gained 3rd place overall.

Our A team came, 8th

Our B team came, 9th

and our C team came 3rd.

Very well done to all of our players, parent(s) and spectators for their support and encouragement during the competition.

Next year……… who knows!

The District Cub Scout bowling competition was held on Saturday 10th November 2012 at XS Superbowl, Benton. We had 28 Cub Scouts taking part from a variety of Groups across the District. The teams were made up of 5-6 cubs from different Cub Packs enabling them to work with Cubs they did not know, this allowed them to work together to beat the other teams. They played two games, one with the lane bumpers up and the other with them down. This tested their skills as they found the second game harder to score points.

Scores were counted up and the winning team were from lane 1 which consisted of:

Dale (20th Whitley Bay)

Nicholas (17th Whitley Bay)

Ellie (5th Whitley Bay)

Will (19th Whitley Bay)

Marcus (6th Whitley Bay)

Adam (5th Whitley Bay)

The overall Cub with the highest bowling score was Will (19th Whitley Bay) and the Runner up being Marcus (6th Whitley Bay).

The event was a great success supported by Cubs, Section Leaders and Parents and I would like to thank you all for taking part.

I look forward to 2013 where hopefully we can do it all again!
